Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], January 22: In a gesture celebrating the confluence of industrial progress and tribal heritage, Mr. Pranab Kumar Bhattacharyya, CEO – Alumina Business, Vedanta Ltd, presented a traditional Saura art painting to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, during the concluding ceremony of Kalahandi Utsav – Ghumura 2026.

The painting, meticulously handcrafted by local tribal artists, was showcased at the Vedanta pavilion as a testament to the success of the company’s cultural conservation efforts.

The artwork was created under Project Adikala, Vedanta’s flagship CSR initiative dedicated to reviving endangered tribal art forms like Dhokra metal casting and Saura paintings. By providing specialized training, modern design support, and direct market linkages, Project Adikala has successfully secured sustainable livelihoods for over 200 artisan families in the region.

This initiative ensures that ancient artistic legacies not only survive but thrive as viable economic activities in the modern market. Mr. Bhattacharyya reaffirmed that for Vedanta Lanjigarh, preserving the cultural integrity of Kalahandi remains as essential as its industrial contributions, fostering a truly inclusive and sustainable future for the district.
