New Delhi [India], December 16: <\/strong>When Lionel Messi visited India, it was a moment of celebration. Stadiums echoed with cheers, social media overflowed with posts, and headlines proudly announced his presence. Some people reportedly spent\u00a0\u20b910 lakh or more just for a photograph<\/strong>\u00a0with him. Crores were spent\u2014without hesitation\u2014for a few seconds of proximity to global greatness.<\/p>\n

There is nothing wrong with admiring a legend like Messi. He has earned every bit of respect and love he receives. But as an Indian athlete, standing on the starting grid of my own racing journey, I couldn\u2019t help but ask a painful question:<\/p>\n

Is this the same India where young athletes struggle every day just to survive in sport?<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is the same country where\u00a0motorsports athletes\u2014especially girls\u2014fight endlessly for basic funding<\/strong>, where sponsorship emails go unanswered, where talent is acknowledged only after it succeeds abroad, and where dreams often end not due to lack of ability, but due to lack of belief.<\/p>\n

People are willing to spend\u00a0crores on photography<\/strong>, but hesitate to invest even a fraction of that amount in\u00a0Indian talent that could represent the nation globally tomorrow<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

A Hard Truth for Indian Motorsports<\/h3>\n

Motorsports in India is not growing at the pace it should, not because we lack talent, but because we lack support systems<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Corporations prefer safe, already-famous faces<\/li>\n
  • Individuals hesitate to back long-term athletic journeys<\/li>\n
  • Government support exists, but often doesn\u2019t reach niche or emerging sports<\/li>\n
  • Grassroots racers struggle for equipment, travel, training, and entry fees<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    As a\u00a0Formula racer<\/strong>, I know how expensive this sport is. Every race is a financial battle. Every season is a test of endurance\u2014not just on track, but off it. Many talented racers quit before they even get a fair chance, simply because\u00a0passion cannot replace funding<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    Why Do We Trust Outsiders More Than Our Own?<\/h3>\n

    Somewhere along the way, we as a nation have started believing that\u00a0global validation matters more than homegrown potential<\/strong>. We celebrate talent only after it becomes international. We cheer when an Indian wins abroad, but we rarely help them get there.<\/p>\n

    This lack of faith hurts deeply.<\/p>\n

    It tells young athletes:
    \n\u201cYour dreams matter\u2014but only after you prove yourself without our help.\u201d<\/p>\n

    That is not how sporting nations are built.<\/p>\n

    A Personal Appeal<\/h3>\n

    I am proud to represent India as a Formula racer. I am proud of every struggle, every sacrifice, and every lap driven against odds. But I dream of an India where:<\/p>\n

    • Indian talent is celebrated before it becomes global<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Sponsorship is seen as a belief, not a charity<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Girls in motorsports are supported, not questioned<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Dreams are nurtured, not ignored<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      I truly hope that one day, the same excitement we show for international stars will be extended to\u00a0our own athletes<\/strong>, standing quietly in the paddocks, waiting for a chance.<\/p>\n

      Because when India starts believing in its own talent\u2014
      \nthat is the day Indian motorsports will truly accelerate forward.<\/strong><\/p>\n

      Until then, we keep racing.
      \nNot just against competitors\u2014but against indifference.<\/p>\n
