August 26: Nitte Institute of Architecture (NIA) is one of the leading institutes of Nitte (Deemed to be a University), founded in 2015. The institute has launched several scholarship schemes to support selected students in studying architecture. NIA offers a 5-year (10-semester) undergraduate program, Bachelor of Architecture (BArch), approved by the Council of Architecture (CoA) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

Nitte University has an ‘A+’ accreditation by NAAC; it is awarded Category ‘A’ status by MHRD GoI; ranked 75th in NIRF 2022.

Each year, NIA accepts 40 students for undergraduate architecture studies with a curriculum that combines hands-on training with theory-based education.

At NIA, students can explore design through materials such as clay and wood. Design structures are taught using models and scenarios that occur in real life. Thus, students studying at NIA are ready for the real world and for careers in architecture. Nitte University also offers several scholarship schemes – 

Merit Scholarships: Outstanding students who meet the following requirements:

-If the student’s score is greater than or equal to 80% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) subjects in Class 12, a fee concession will be granted, and tuition fees will be imposed as below:

Excellence Scholarships: 40% of intake is allocated to Excellence Scholarships. The requirements are as follows:

-A merit list will be prepared after the publication of the NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) results; the selection will be based on the inter-se merit of the NATA score.

Full Fee Waiver Scholarships: The top 3 students under the Excellence Scholarships category will receive this scholarship. 

The NIA Five-Year Undergraduate Program is recognized by universities worldwide. Students who have completed the program will be eligible to apply to various postgraduate programs, such as Masters in Architecture, Masters in Urban Design, Masters in Planning, and so on.

Nitte is one among eight Indian Universities to rank in the Top 300 of the world’s Universities in the 2022 edition of the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings. The university has its roots in a group of Institutions established by the Nitte Education Trust. The Trust was established in 1979 by Late Justice KS Hegde, Judge of the Supreme Court and Speaker of the Lok Sabha, with the mission of empowering rural youth through quality education and healthcare.
